The company’s products have earned the recognition of millions of consumers worldwide, and it all began with the well-known Milky Way® bar. In addition to chocolate products such as MARS®, SNICKERS®, and M&M’s®, Mars currently also develops other FMCG market segments, offering chewing gums (ORBIT®, WINTERFRESH®, AIRWAVES®), pet food (PEDIGREE®, CHAPPI®), and many others. Today, the company employs approximately 80,000 people across 78 countries worldwide. Mars has been present in Poland since 1992, with Royal Canin Polska and Wrigley Poland being part of its business. The Polish branch of the international Mars corporation brings together 2,800 Associates.
Mars Polska Sp. z o.o. implemented a modern solution – the OPTIest® system – to improve the recording and management of assets in its offices and four production plants located in Poland. The software was integrated with the SAP accounting and financial system. The aim of the investment was to organize the company’s asset data.
Due to the specific nature of work in the factories, one of the challenges for OPTIDATA was the proper identification of production machinery. It is worth noting that in the case of office equipment, barcode labels proved sufficient. However, the machines required a more advanced marking technique.
Stainless steel (acid-resistant) plates were used, with barcodes applied using laser marking technology. This method ensured proper asset registration, thereby improving occupational safety and hygiene.
As part of the implementation process, the client was fully equipped with automatic identification devices (data collectors and barcode printers) and consumables, and also received appropriate training and technical support.
In October 2018, the merger of Mars Polska and Wrigley Poland took place. This fusion strengthened the cooperation with OPTIDATA through the implementation of additional OPTIest® licenses.
