The company supplies crude oil to the largest fuel producers in Poland and Germany, manages a network of crude oil and product pipelines, and also operates a marine transshipment terminal.

PERN has over 60 years of experience in the storage and transportation of crude oil, and the company's strategic goal is the continuous development of every aspect of its business operations. For this reason, PERN has recently decided to implement a fixed asset management system – OPTIest – which, based on RFID technology, will streamline the process of inventorying fixed assets. The company aimed to implement a unified, digital solution that would automate the work of inventory teams and enhance the security of its assets.

Piotr Mundzik – Head of IT Systems Development Department at PERN – spoke about the process of optimizing fixed asset management:

“We chose the OPTIest® system because, among other features, it offers full functionality to support the inventory process, which was our top priority. We monitor our assets using automatic identification technology – both barcode and RFID. The software is compatible with RFID data reading devices used in explosion hazard zones. Additionally, the AMS OPTIest® system has been integrated with SAP and EOD systems, ensuring data consistency. The implemented solution will allow us to plan and manage our teams’ tasks even more effectively, which in the future will lead to a 40% increase in their productivity.”

It is worth emphasizing that RFID is currently the leading technology when it comes to the efficiency of processes carried out within a company. Using radio waves, data stored on devices is transmitted to the system quickly and securely. Thanks to the fact that PERN has also been equipped with appropriate RFID automatic identification equipment and durable tags, both physical inventory and the generated inventory documents are carried out in an automated manner.
